Eid al-Fitr 2013 (1434) in pictures

Assalamu alaykum,

Ramadan crafts (continued)

Bismillah

Assalamu alaykum,

Ramadan's gone and the month of Shawwal is passing by already. Belated Eid al-Fitr mubarak, inshaAllah everyone had a good celebration..

We could not do much this Ramadan. Bi ithnillah I'll make more preparations for the next year. However, Yusuf learned few things. He was pretending to fast and broke his fast with me or his dad in the nearby masjid. We were invited for iftars, so he learned that we share food with others and invite people for iftar during Ramadan. We read his Ramadan book several times.

My lovely niece was visiting us on her school holidays, she and Yusuf made Ramadan lanterns and paper chains. She came up with few brilliant ideas, together they drew shapes, scribbled and wrote on the paper and made lanterns out of that paper. I also made Yusuf draw with paint and he played with different colors. We made a flower out of those colored papers. I made few more decorations using the tutorials found on the internet. Here is how our wall looked like:

Ramadan mubarak!!

Bismillah

Assalamu alaykum,

Alhamdulillah we are witnessing another Ramadan, all Praise and Thanks is for Allah swt. May Allah bless us all during Ramadan and throughout the year with His forgiveness, mercy and bring us all closer to Him. May Allah accept our fasting and ibadah and guide us all to the Straight Path.

This piece of advice is from Yasmin Mogahed's FB:

As we enter this blessed month of mercy, I give this advice to myself first, and then to you:
Don’t let this Ramadan be just a holiday of rituals. Don’t finish reading the Quran without it transforming you. Don’t feed your body at suhoor, but starve your heart of Qiyam. Don’t reduce this downpour of mercy to just a month of sweets and lavish iftars. Seek Him, you will find. Take a sincere step towards change, transformation, redemption. If you do, you will find Him in front of you. Find Him this month. He’s been there all along. Closer than your jugular vein. Look and you’ll find. Walk and you’ll arrive.

Ramadan Lapbook

Bismillah,

Assalamu alaykum,

This Ramadan lapbook is ideal for toddlers. Bright pictures and no text. I didn't write anything on it, when I designed it. But I do think it would have been better with some text in it. We made this lapbook for our dear sister Umm Sara's Ramadan Giveaway in 2011.

I pasted the pictures of the main acts of worship/ibadah that we do during the month of Ramadan, which includes fasting, reading Qur'an, praying, giving sadaqa, adhkar, going to Masjid for 5 daily and taraweeh prayers.

Ramadan crafts (Part1)

Bismillah,

Assalamu alaykum,

Ramadan is fast approaching, alhamdulillah. My son is almost 3 now. Alhamdulillah now is a great time to do some crafts with him for the Ramadan. MashaAllah so much is available on the internet nowadays, jazakumAllah khayran for our Ummi Bloggers, who shared their Ramadan materials, ideas, thoughts and experiences. InshaAllah I'm planning to make/set up a Ramadan Bulletin Board and do some crafts with Yusuf for Ramadan.

We started with Ramadan Good Deeds Tree. Idea belongs to Umm Sayang. She made a 3D tree, we loved the idea and made one too. There are some other variations of good deeds tree done by other Ummi bloggers that we liked (by Umm Abdul BasirLifetime learning at home, Umm AdamRaising Sahabas). I'm sure there are more of good deed trees/charts done by other Muslim Bloggers on the internet, I only provided few examples above.

We made the tree out of cardboard and we chose craft foam for the leaves. We will most likely staple the leaves on the tree. Leaves are big enough to write the good deeds on them. We also made some apples. For each good deed, Yusuf will earn a leaf or an apple. We will inshaAllah post a photo of our good deeds tree after Ramadan.

DIY muslim dolls

Bismillah,

Assalamu alaykum,

DIY muslim dolls is a good project for older kids. Moms can make them for younger kids, they are great for pretend play and very easy to make, mashaAllah.

Recently I was after some islamic crafts and I started searching on google and I came across felt muslim doll tutorial. The idea belongs to sister Karima, may Allah reward her for the simple and yet brilliant idea and for the tutorial. Here is the link for the felt muslim doll and prayer mat tutorial by sister Karima:
http://www.karimascrafts.com/2013/01/felt-muslim-doll-and-prayer-mat-tutorial.html

I didn't spend much time doing the dolls, hence they are not too good looking. Didn't do my measurements right, but my son is happy with the outcome, alhamdulillah. He took them away as soon as they were ready and started playing with them.

After I made felt muslim girl, I had to make a muslim boy right away, as requested by my son.
